United Kingdom
In the prehistoric period, Britons spoke Celtic languages. The origin of the name Britain is Greek transliteration of a Celtic word, earliest records of which are seen in the works of Pytheas and Pilny the Elder. Known as Albion in much earlier times, Great Britain was occupied by various ethnic groups that had settled before antiquity, mainly Prehistoric, Brittonic, Roman, Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Normans. The source of this name is debatable, although many credit it to Aristotle, who possibly referred to the white cliffs of Dover.
United States
Native or indigenous peoples of the Americas have been linked to Siberia through Western Alaska based on early records of spoken language, blood types and genetic variations. The origins of North America can be traced back to European colonization beginning with the invasion of Greenland and Canada by the Norse Viking explorers. Colonization by Spain followed by Britain is of historical significance.
Germany
Germanic peoples have been associated with Germania or Germanic Barbaricum since prehistory. During antiquity, "land of the Germani" came to be known as Magna Germania or Germania Libera. All Germanic languages originate from Proto-Indo-European (PIE).
